Xander Schauffele grabbed the biggest paycheck of his young career when he won the WGC-HSBC Champions on Sunday in China.
Schauffele closed with a 68 and then beat Tony Finau on the first playoff hole to bring home a check of $1.7 million. (Until Sunday, Schauffele’s biggest winner’s check was the $1.58 million he earned for winning the 2017 Tour Championship.)
Despite Finau losing a three-shot lead in the final round, his runner-up finish is still good for $1.072 million. Justin Rose, the defending champion, earned $587,000 for his third-place finish.
