The golfer swinging was left holding the handle of the club.

The golfer watching was almost whalloped by the rest of the club.

The ball never moved.

Members of Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF played golf. Or, perhaps, members of Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF played golf?

Members of Inter Miami CF had gone to a golf course at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., where the MLS is playing its games in its return after a hiatus due to the coronavirus. Jerome Kiesewetter is setting up for a shot with a driver in a video recorded and posted to Instagram by Lee Nguyen (and shared by the MLS website). Juan Agudelo is finishing up a shot.

Golf.

Kiesewetter smiles as he holds the club with his hands partially separated and his feet widely separated. Agudelo turns around to watch. Kiesewetter lifts his left foot, takes the club back with a shovel motion, then swings with a shovel motion.

The driver shovels the ground behind the ball. The club snaps. Divot flies. Three-quarters of the club flies, too. Kiesewetter holds the handle. Agudelo covers his face as the club shaft and head fall between him and Kiesewetter. The ball remains on the tee.

Golf?

“Oh my God,” Kiesewetter says in the background.

“When your 20 handicap buddy ask if he can borrow your clubs,” Nguyen wrote on the video.

The golfer filming was out a driver.
