WATCH: Joaquin Niemann just hit one of the most mesmerizing stingers you’ll ever see

January 6, 2020

Thirty-four of the best golfers in the world are battling the winds (and each other) at the Sentry Tournament of Champions this week.

The entire winners-only tournament on the Plantation Course at Kapalua has been getting slammed with strong winds all week, but the worst of it came on Sunday with steady 20-30 mph winds and gusts up to 40 mph.

And how do you beat the wind? Keep the ball low of course. Right, Joaquin Niemann?

The 21-year-old Chilean had the right idea during the final round, and one low stringer with a sweet little draw on it mesmerized the Golf Channel audience on Sunday night. Teeing off on the par-4 13th, Niemann unleashed a low ball that stopped the broadcast in its tracks.

“Not a lot of guys are able to do what he did right here,” said analyst Paul Azinger. “But this is a confident effort. One of his strengths is he can really manipulate his trajectory off the tee, but to be able to do this you kind of have to hood the face down at the bottom, which he was able to do. Almost looked like he topped it, but I can assure you he hit the sweet spot dead center.”

Niemann parred the hole to stay at two under for the day. Check out the shot below.
