Valentine’s Day posts, golf’s Netflix premiere and a sweet apology | Rogers Report
It was a busy weekend in pro golf.

Hello friends and happy Tuesday from the Genesis Invitational. I write to you all from the very best media center in golf. I’m posted up next to Dylan Dethier and Sean Zak in the Riviera clubhouse, just a few yards away from a little coffee bar that has been set up here for the week. I plan to try lots of new caffeinated beverages while I’m here, but right now I’ve got a steaming hot cup of TEA to share with all of you from the weekend in golf — so let’s get cracking.
Netflix Premiere party
Topgolf Scottdale was the place to be on Saturday night. Netflix and Michelob Ultra hosted a premiere party for “Full Swing,” and the stars brought their A-game. Joel Dahmen and Geno Bonnalie were simply born for the red (or in this case, green) carpet.
Influencers everywhere should be taking notes on these poses. The boys are absolutely working it.
Such naturals! I look forward to seeing them at the Met Gala in May. Golfers weren’t the only ones in attendance, though. Shaq graced the red (green) carpet, as well as Serena Williams, Offset and DJ Khaled.
I’m starting to learn that anyone who’s anyone wears sunglasses inside. I’ll keep that in mind in the unlikely event I’m invited to another one of these.
Anyway, here’s me with my pal Muhammad at the event. Before you ask — yes, I did buy a new pair of party pants for the event. I have no regrets at this time.
We also had a brand new WAG sighting, which I’m very excited about. Matthew Fitzpatrick hit the red carpet with Katherine Gaal, who is unfortunately private on Instagram but is described as an “extremely hardworking and ambitious individual who is able to work exceptionally well in a fast-paced, demanding environment” on her LinkedIn page.
Her profile also calls her “goal-oriented, with an open-minded, positive attitude” — and after seeing her stand for the paparazzi, I agree. Congrats to the happy couple on what I believe is their first red-carpet appearance together.
Perhaps my favorite moment from the Netflix party was the opportunity to see Serena Williams’ golf swing. It looks like she plays cross-handed, which is very interesting. Perhaps it feels natural after years of backhands?
Is there anything Serena Williams can’t do?
After a few hours at the party, my coworkers and I were itching for some ice cream. We drove to Scoop and Joy, where I enjoyed two cookie monster ice cream scoops in a rainbow sprinkle waffle cone.
As a gal from New England where the ice cream shops close for the winter, this was a much-needed scoop. It was the best I’ve had in months!
Meredith Scheffler’s apology
Scottie Scheffler won for the first time since the Masters last weekend, which I’m selfishly really happy about because we got to see more of golf’s First Couple on Sunday.
Scheffler beat Nick Taylor by two. Back by the media center, Meredith went up to Nick Taylor’s wife, Andie, and apologized for their loss.
Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott described Meredith as an “incredibly humble, giving, thoughtful, kind-spirited woman” in an interview with the PGA Tour. Is there anyone in golf who’s better liked? The whole “sorry for winning” thing reminded me of the time Scheffler found himself on the other side of the ledger when Rory McIlroy beat him at East Lake.
I kinda love the whole “sorry I played better today” thing. I hope we see more of it in 2023.
Valentine’s Day posts
Today is the biggest day of the year for Instagram couples. Everyone knows the only way to prove the strength of your relationship is to post your significant other on February 14th. Thankfully, a handful of the pros and the pros’ better halves have declared their love on the internet, and I’m here to share those posts with you.
We’ll start off with Jena Sims, who shared some photos from her and Brooks Koepka’s wedding last spring.
She also shared a photo of the flowers Koepka got her. Folks, that’s over 150 roses! Keep up the good work, Brooks.
DJ also went with roses for Paulina. They’re on their annual ski trip to Aspen this week, which looks like a blast.
Next up we have Harold Varner III, Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuizen, who kept their captions short and sweet. Five stars from me as far as V-Day posts go.
As of now, I haven’t seen any other Valentine’s Day posts from the pros. But it’s early! Worry not, I’ll keep updating this post as more (hopefully) roll in.
