U.S. Open weather forecast: See how nature will affect the pros at Pebble Beach this week

June 11, 2019

The 2019 U.S. Open is set to begin at iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links. With a star-studded field and a bevy of quality storylines, the only thing that could put a damper on the festivities is Mother Nature. Here’s the full U.S. Open weather forecast for this week’s tournament.

Wind and rain are always a threat given the location of Pebble Beach. But as of now, and it’s still early, it appears that the weather on the Monterey Peninsula will be benign during the third major of the year.

U.S. Open Weather Forecast: June 13-16

For the opening round of the U.S. Open on Thursday, June 13, players can expect cool, comfortable temperatures with a high of 61° F and a low of 52°. Winds will be present out of the west/northwest, but they should top out at 9 mph, which shouldn’t be a problem for the best players in the game. As with most of the week, humidity will be high on Thursday (80%) with only a 10% chance of precipitation, according to weather.com.

The forecast for the rest of the week should be consistent with the conditions everyone is greeted with on Thursday. During the second round, expect a slightly lower high of 59°, with a low of 52°. The potential for rain remains at 10% on Friday, while the winds will tick up to an 11 mph average.

Once the first two rounds are complete, half the field will head home leaving the top players to battle it out over the weekend. They will do so under similarly cool, benign conditions. Saturday’s temperatures should top out at 60° with winds dipping to 9 mph and a low chance of precipitation. The forecast for Sunday’s final round predicts temperatures of 61/54, winds at 11 mph and the chance for rain at 10%.

With the course running along the ocean, Pebble Beach’s weather is notoriously unpredictable and can experience sudden, drastic changes at any time. That being said, if this early U.S. Open weather forecast holds, player’s should find the conditions extremely agreeable this week, perhaps only needing a pullover to keep warm in the early morning hours.

We will continue to provide updates on the forecast as the tournament nears.
