WATCH: Tyrrell Hatton was forced to stop mid-swing … by his fiancée

October 11, 2019

Surely, you’ve heard that things can get weird on the European Tour, but this is a new one. Tyrrell Hatton, the emotional man he is, was interrupted during a backswing Friday by, of all things, his own fiancée stepping out of the loo.

Yes, you read that correctly. During the middle of Hatton’s second round at the Italian, while he aimed to play his approach into the 11th green, a sound from outside the ropes stopped him mid-swing. When he noticed what it was, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

Hatton paused, stood behind his ball and shouted out to his future wife, “What are you doing?”

“That’s my fiancée,” Hatton said, whipping around to the TV cameramen.

“You put me off,” Hatton then shouted to his fiancée a bit sarcastically. “You should be ashamed.”

Because the Euro Tour knows a joke opportunity when they see one, the brand was quick to add to the humorous incident with a tweet noting that Hatton “flushed” his ensuing approach. Well done all around. The high-soaring shot nearly hit the pin, spinning back to about six feet. He’d make par from there, and when he completed his round, he added to the joke by tweeting #weddingsoff.

Hatton’s two-round total of five under has him four shots shy of Joachim Hansen after 36 holes.
