Two men drown after wives accidentally rear-end their golf cart into river

December 27, 2018

Two tourists have died after a freak golf cart accident on a Thailand golf course.

According to the AFP news agency, two South Korean couples were vacationing in Thailand when tragedy struck. While on a ferry crossing a river that runs through a course, the womens’ golf cart accidentally rear-ended the mens’, knocking all four of them into the water.

The women were saved by nearby fishermen, but bodies of the men, Sung Jun-yong, 68, and Ha Jae-oong, 76, were found later. AFP says more than 50 rescue workers were involved in the search.

“Their wives said both are able to swim but I think the cause of drowning was the strong undercurrent,” said district police Lieutenant Colonel Suwat Suawatmontri.
