It seems like everyone was following Tiger last Sunday, and TV ratings were massive as fans tuned in to see if Woods could bag major No. 15. Turns out, even professional tennis stars have caught the Tiger effect. Just see Rafael Nadal’s urgent need to check his phone at the conclusion of his match.
After defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the Rogers Cup final in straight sets on Sunday, Nadal was caught on camera scrolling through his phone while tying his shoes. He eventually turns to the camera and happily declares he was checking on his friend, Tiger Woods, who, of course, shot an electric final-round 64 to fall two shots short of Brooks Koepka.
Nadal was onsite for Tiger’s comeback at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas last December, and Woods brought his kids to watch Nadal from Nadal’s box at the 2017 U.S. Open.
Nadal has 17 Grand Slam singles titles on his resume, which ranks second all-time. You can watch the full video of his Tiger check-in below.
