Tiger Woods PGA cut: Tiger battling cutline on Friday at PGA Championship

Tiger PGA Cut

Tiger Woods is currently playing his second round of 18 holes at the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y. But instead of fighting for a 16th major championship and fifth PGA title, Tiger is fighting to survive and make it to the weekend.

Standing at five over par with six holes to play, Woods will need to turn it around quickly to make the PGA Championship cut. At this point, three over is good enough to stay around for the weekend. But Woods could be sailing home on his yacht if he doesn’t improve his play. The top 70 players in the field, including ties, will make it through the single cut and compete in the third and final rounds at Bethpage.

A four-time PGA champion, Woods started the day at two over but is three over through 12 holes on Friday. His front nine consisted of two birdies and two bogeys, but he birdied the first three holes of the back nine. (His round started with him navigating through a boisterous gallery on the first hole.)

Woods will need to shoot under par the rest of the way in order to make it through the current cut line. Other players who are in danger of missing out include Jon Rahm, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, and Bryson DeChambeau.

(UPDATE: Tiger birdied the par-5 13th hole to move back to four over par. The cut line remains at three over…Tiger then bogeyed the par-3 14th hole to fall back to five over par. However, the cut line is now at four over…Woods missed the cut by a stroke after shooting 73. Here are other notables who missed the cut.)
