Moving night?! Tiger Woods starts birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie at Genesis

If birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie is your idea of a good start, Tiger Woods dialed up just that to begin his third round Saturday night at the Genesis Open. With tee times pushed back due to Thursday’s weather delay, Tiger Woods began his third round on the 10th tee at Riviera Country Club alongside Cody Gribble and Peter Malnati at 3:40 p.m. local time.

Woods didn’t waste much time getting his round started. After a neat up-and-down for birdie at the drivable par-4 10th, he faced down a high cut 5-wood at No. 11…and did this.

Woods poured in the short putt (and was joined by a certain famous left-hander in the eagle department) to get to four under.

But that wasn’t all. At the par-4 12th, Woods hit his approach to some 20 feet before draining that putt too, punctuating it with a firm fist pump.

But the charge was officially on when Woods hit a low, abbreviated-followthrough six-iron into the par-4 13th to some 10 feet, then made the putt to get to five under through four holes, six under overall for the tournament.

Woods will need to keep his foot on the gas; leaders Justin Thomas and Adam Scott began the third round at 11 under, and conditions were ripe for scoring. They’ll continue to be that way until the sun sets at 5:38 p.m. local time. But considering Woods barely made the cut to begin with, a Saturday evening charge gave the Los Angeles fans their money’s worth.
