PGA Tour adds Bermuda event to its 2019-20 tournament schedule
The PGA Tour is adding a new location to its tournament schedule for next year: Bermuda.
The Tour announced on Tuesday that a brand new event called the Bermuda Championship will be making its debut on the island during the 2019-20 season. It will be the Tour’s first official annual event to be held in Bermuda.
The new tournament is scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda, and it will be held opposite to the WGC-HSBC Champions in China. Port Royal Golf Course was the home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 2009-2014, an offseason event that no longer exists.
Bermuda Tourism Authority has signed a five-year deal through 2023 as the initial title sponsor for the new event, which will be shown on the Golf Channel. The Bermuda Championship will also have a $3 million purse and offer 300 FedEx Cup points to the winner.

“We are excited to add the Bermuda Championship to the PGA Tour beginning next season,” said Ty Votaw, President, International, PGA Tour, said in a release. “Bermuda is an appealing year-round destination, and the players will love visiting in the fall, plus we will be hosted by an outstanding golf course. It promises to be a wonderful opportunity to showcase Bermuda — a beautiful island destination that embodies genuine hospitality — to the world.”
