PGA Championship cut line: What is the cut at the 2019 PGA Championship?

As the second round of the 2019 PGA Championship rolls along, the cut line for the second major of the golf season will come into focus. Some players will continue on this weekend at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., while others will be sent home after 36 holes and miss the PGA Championship cut line.

The top 70 players in the field at the PGA, including ties, will make the cut and compete in the third and final rounds at Bethpage, meaning any player in 71st place or worse will be sent packing after the single cut of the event.

The PGA Championship cut rule is the same as the Open Championship’s cut. Given that the field at the PGA is 156 players, roughly half will advance to the weekend. Last year, the cut line at the PGA Championship was even par.

The Masters, however, only takes the top 50 in the field into the weekend but has a rule that any player within 10 shots of the lead will make the cut. The U.S. Open, the third major of the golf season, only keeps the top 60, including ties, in the field.

While there is much golf to be played during Friday’s second round, the cut line appears to be hovering around three over par. Therefore, notable golfers such as Tiger Woods, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson, and Patrick Reed are all in danger of packing their bags.
