AUGUSTA, Ga. — Tiger Woods is making a Saturday move at the Masters — but he’s hardly the only one. Red numbers are the theme of the day through the early stages of Moving Day, where even the Augusta National course record has come under fire.
Tiger Woods entered the day a shot off the lead at six under par. He began his round with four pars in a row before stumbling at the challenging par-4 5th, where he made bogey for the third consecutive day.
No matter: Woods reeled off three consecutive birdies on 6, 7 and 8 to get within one shot of the lead again. After finding the right trees at No. 9, he punched his second short and left of the green and pitched it inside four feet for a nifty par.

But Woods was far from the only one in red figures. Patrick Cantlay got things started early with an eight-under 64 to move to six under for the event. Webb Simpson added a 64 of his own, including an eight-hole stretch he played at seven under in the middle of his round, to post the clubhouse lead at nine under. Tony Finau started the day four back but charged to the outright lead at 10 under with a birdie at No. 13.

And that’s ignoring the 36-hole leaders: Molinari (-8), Day (-8), Koepka (-7), Scott (-7) and Oosthuizen (-6) as well as a surging Xander Schauffele, who’s nine under after a birdie at No. 8. Rickie Fowler is even getting in on the action at seven under.
One thing’s for sure: the back nine on Saturday — and the entirety of Sunday — will be worth keeping tabs on.
