AUGUSTA, Ga. — Tiger Woods did the impossible (or so many thought) on Sunday at the Masters at Augusta National. He won his 15th major title after going more than a decade without one.
Woods signed for a final-round two-under 70 to finish 13 under overall and beat Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele and Brooks Koepka, who all tied at 12 under.
Besides a fifth green jacket and his 81st career PGA Tour victory, Woods also claims a check of $2.07 million, which pushes his career earnings on the PGA Tour to a whopping $118,309,570. Woods entered the Masters with $116,239,570 in career earnings and now has two million-plus to tack on.
He’s already miles ahead in terms of career earnings when compared to his Tour counterparts. Phil Mickelson ranks second in career earnings with $90,306,104 (pre-Masters), and behind him is Vijay Singh ($71,216,128 pre-Masters), Jim Furyk ($70,588,191) and Dustin Johnson ($59,287,841 pre-Masters).
But it’s not like Woods needs the cash. Forbes estimated his net worth at $740 million in 2016, which made him America’s seventh-richest celebrity.
The money is great, but Woods is probably plenty happy simply slipping on his fifth green jacket.
