J.B. Holmes’ one-shot victory at the Genesis Open on Sunday earned him a spot into this week’s WGC-Mexico Championship at Club de Golf Chapultepec. But the 36-year-old isn’t planning on attending because he’s got other plans: family vacation.

After four consecutive weeks on the PGA Tour, Holmes and his family are ready to get away from the golf world for a bit.

“I’m not going to play,” Holmes said after his victory at Riviera Country Club. “We had a vacation planned. I’ve been out four weeks, so it’s a long trip to Mexico. It’s an honor to be able to play in that tournament, but I’m tired. The kid’s been out, it’s been a long week, so we’re going to continue with the vacation we had planned next week and go do that.”

It’s a well-earned vacation for Holmes, who won for the first time in four years on Sunday. His victory was the eighth of his professional career and fifth on the PGA Tour.

Holmes’ win also earned him a spot in the Masters at Augusta National in April. He won’t be skipping that one.
