Ian Poulter took to Twitter Friday to remind U.S. Ryder Cuppers of this year’s match result. Poulter, a stalwart on the European side, donned a Team USA “Beat Europe” t-shirt and posted a photo as he stares off into the distance.

An hour later, he added an update. Poulter added the word “couldn’t” in marker, so the shirt then read “Couldn’t beat Europe.” In his left hand, Poulter held the Ryder Cup itself, with the smug grin of a winner affixed to his face.

Poulter’s barb earned several responses from other top players in the comments on his Instagram. That meant approval from teammate Rory McIlroy, a roll of the eyes from Jordan Spieth and tears of laughter from Brooks Koepka.
Poulter went 2-2-0 in this year’s Ryder Cup, including a win over Dustin Johnson in Sunday singles. He is 4-0-1 in five career Ryder Cup singles matches.
