Here’s what you missed from Round 1 of the Wyndham Championship

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve reached the final event of the regular PGA Tour season. This week’s Wyndham Championship offers a last-gasp opportunity for players hoping earn a berth in the first FedEx cup playoff event, next week’s Northern Trust. It’s sure to be good theater!

Here’s everything you missed from Thursday’s action in Greenboro, N.C.

Two players shot 62

Byeong Hun An and Sungjae Im lead the field by a shot after firing opening rounds of eight-under-par 62. Each player managed to submit a perfect scorecard of eight birdies and no bogeys.

Both An and Im are seeking their first career Tour victories this week. An has two top-10 finishes thus far this season, while Im has six.

Trailing An and Im are four players at 7 under and nine players — including defending champ Brandt Snedeker — at 6 under.

How did the big names play today?

Jordan Spieth, Matthew Wolff and Paul Casey had the best rounds of the big names in the field.

Spieth’s colorful scorecard included six birdies, an eagle and two bogeys for a final tally of six-under-par 64. He’s currently T-7.

Wolff and Casey are T-16 at five under par after opening rounds of 65.

What are some storylines to follow this week?

Last week’s winner, Collin Morikawa, needs a win this week to get into the playoff series. He’s currently T-27 at four under par overall after an opening 66.

If you’re looking to track players who are on the playoff bubble, follow Richy Werenski (currently 124th), Patton Kizzire (currently 125th) and Daniel Berger (currently 126th). Kizzire is T-16 at 5 under, Werenski is T-70 at 2 under, and Berger is T-93 at 1 under.
