Fantasy Six Pack: Get these players in your DraftKings and FanDuel lineups at the Travelers

Welcome to the Fantasy Six Pack! If this is your first time joining us, we highlight six golfers to use in two popular fantasy golf platforms, DraftKings and FanDuel. On each, you must select six golfers for your lineup under a specific salary cap. (DraftKings $50,000, FanDuel $60,000) A little about me: I’m a golf nut with a 4 handicap that’s trending upward (since my son, James, was born, it’s skyrocketed.) and a nose for analytics — according to Rotogrinders, I’m one of the top daily fantasy golf players and ranked inside the top five of all players. We missed Gary Woodland, but the only golfer on our list to MC was Scottie Scheffler, who missed a short par put on his 17th hole on Friday to seal his fate. Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Webb Simpson and Jon Rahm all cracked the top 20. On to the week ahead!

Skills emphasized: For the third straight week, the PGA Tour will play a course that tips out at about 7,000 yards. At this event, winners flash an array of statistical measures, which normally means you need the whole bucket of skills, not just length off the tee. So, we’ll emphasize an all-around game this week.

The Favorite(s):

Jordan Spieth (Odds 16/1 DraftKings $10,700, FanDuel $11,400) This is possibly the first time a golfer fits in both my “Favorite” section and the “Mulligan” section, because I love Spieth but must also acknowledge that he’s still fighting it. Last week on-camera microphones picked up a couple spats between Spieth and his caddie, Michael Greller. I’d never seen anything like that out of Spieth. I wonder if he expected to win last week, and when it began slipping away it just overwhelmed him. I’m no psychology expert – but I did minor in it in college! – but I think it’s mostly mental for Spieth at this point. Oddsmakers are undervaluing him, given that he’s a past champion of the event and tends to excel on shorter courses that turn into birdiefests.

Going Streaking: Players entering this week in excellent form

Chez Reavie (Odds: 50/1, DraftKings $8,400, FanDuel $9,900) Chez is on a bit of a roll after finishing third at Pebble, which came after notching a 14th-place finish at the PGA Championship. Pretty impressive. In between, he MC’d in Fort Worth, but I’m not too bothered by it. Back to the U.S. Open: If he could have made a few more putts, he could’ve at least finished third alone. As we mentioned above, you need the whole package this week, and judging by his stats, he’s peaking.

Viktor Hovland (Odds: 50/1, DraftKings $7,900, FanDuel $9,700) The newly-minted pro is set to make his first start for paycheck. Last week he earned low-am honors at Pebble, which backed up his low-am finish at the Masters. He’s the first player since Matt Kuchar to pull off that double. Hovland’s ballstriking numbers were elite, as he ranked second to only Rory McIlroy off the tee and 10th in approaches. Some people may think it’s too soon, but judging by those numbers, I think he’s ready to win now.

Russell Knox (Odds: 50/1, DraftKings $7,700, FanDuel $9,700) Another past Travelers champion makes the list, as he’s bounced back from a missed cut with 27th-place and 8th-place finishes. He enters after a two-week break, so Knox will be rested and ready to go at a venue where he’s never missed a cut. If he can hit his greens, he should be a good bet this week. I like him for a top-30.

“Looks good off the tee” – a player in good form who may be due for regression

Adam Hadwin (Odds: 75/1, DraftKings $7,600, FanDuel $9,500) Course history doesn’t always dictate our plays, but Hadwin’s history at TPC River Highlands doesn’t inspire confidence. He has two missed cuts in four tries, plus a 57th and a 42nd.

“Out of Bounds” — a lesser-known player ready to break out

Collin Morikawa (Odds: 125/1, DraftKings $6,900, FanDuel $8,700) The young prospect has been nothing short of impressive since turning pro three weeks ago. He placed 14th at the Canadian Open after getting in via a sponsor’s exemption, and he followed that up by finishing 35th at the U.S. Open, his first-ever major. So in his two starts, he’s earned $177,000 and about about 80 FedEx points, leaving him about $750,000 short of a special temporary membership, which would give him unlimited sponsor’s exemptions.

1. $5 Buy-in called “Drive the Green,” with a top prize of $150,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of $700,000.

FanDuel:

1. $3 buy-in called “Stinger,” with a top prize of $10,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000.
2. $9.99 buy-in called “Eagle,” with a top prize of $30,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of $175,000.
3. $555 buy-in called “Monster,” with a top prize of $15,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000.
