This time-lapse of a greenskeeper perfectly raking a bunker is oddly mesmerizing

September 16, 2019

The 2019 Solheim Cup wrapped up on Sunday with Europe winning the trophy and Suzann Pettersen becoming the hero. It was a long and taxing week for the pros, but also for the fans, volunteers, workers and more.

It takes a lot of bodies to get a golf course ready for these marquee events, and grounds crews usually bring in skilled professionals from other surrounding courses to help out. Sophie Bulpitt, a greenskeeper at Berkshire Golf Club in England, was one of them. She posted a video to her Twitter account on Sunday with the note: “Wicked week @GleneaglesGolf, big thanks to @haldane_craig for such a great experience and successful tournament. Being able to work on all three courses was a true privilege. Wonderful first trip to Scotland and hopefully not my last.”

The video Bulpitt tweeted was of her raking a bunker at Gleneagles, and while that doesn’t sound super exciting in itself, you need to watch it anyway. I mean, this isn’t your buddy raking a bunker after he just bladed a wedge out of it on his third hack. These people are professionals, and raking a bunker is an art. Check it out below.

We won’t blame you if you happen to watch that at least three or four times. It’s trance-worthy, for sure. And lastly, if you were wondering where to put the bunker rakes after raking a trap, there is some reasoning behind that, too. Here’s what you need to know about it so you don’t mess it up in the future.
