U.S. Open 2019: Tiger Woods shares Father’s Day hug with kids, girlfriend
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — It wasn’t the week Tiger Woods envisioned, but his Sunday at Pebble Beach still had quite the finish.
After holing a birdie putt at No. 18, Woods signed his scorecard and then left the trailer to greet his family. That’s where he shared a hug with his kids, Sam and Charlie, and his girlfriend, Erica Herman.

Earlier in the day, Woods shared a heartfelt Father’s Day tweet about his own father.
“Life came full circle for me this year. Happy Father’s Day Pops and to all Fathers. You’ve taught me so much about the game and how to be there for Sam and Charlie. We miss you.”

Woods’ final round was a roller coaster. He got off to a brutal start, making bogey on four of the first six holes. But then he flipped some sort of switch, making birdie on six of the final 12 holes to close out with a two-under 69.

Woods was asked after his round how often he thinks about his father, and offered a particularly poignant answer.
“All the time. All the time. There’s not a day that I don’t think about my dad. On a day like today, when I won this championship, my dad wasn’t able to travel. His cancer was spreading, and he wasn’t able to make it up here. Even though I had a big lead playing Sunday, he couldn’t fly. Going home that night was awfully special to share with him.”
Following his finish at Pebble Beach, Woods will head back to his home in Florida, where it sounds like he’ll stay for a while.
“I think I’m going to take a little bit of time off and enjoy some family time,” he said.
