Tiger Woods confirms he just had surgery on his left knee

August 27, 2019

Tiger Woods made a big announcement on Tuesday, following the Tour Championship. The reigning Masters champ shared a statement confirming that he had undergone surgery on his left knee to “repair minor cartilage damage.”

Read the full statement below.

Tiger Woods’ left knee has been a persistent issue throughout his career, notably at the 2008 U.S. Open, when he won the tournament with a damaged ACL.

Earlier that year, Tiger Woods also underwent the same procedure. He had the surgery after the Masters that year, with an estimated recovery time of four to six weeks, and returned for the U.S. Open later that season.

Tiger’s health has been a concern among golf fans this season. He’s talked openly about not being able to practice as much, and he seemed to wear down as the season rolled on: Woods notched just one top 10 since his victory at Augusta.
