The 10 best players never to win a major

The 43-year-old Englishman tops our list for his 25 combined wins on the PGA and European tours, a No. 1-ranking in October 2010, 18 top 10s in majors over the past 25 years, 13 top 10s in majors in the past 10 years and an amazing 11 top 5s in majors total. Oh, and three runner-up finishes.

Ya you can say they got me pretty good

Kooch did win an old-fashioned major, the 1997 U.S. Amateur. But as a professional, he has eight top 10s in majors, including a T3, T8, T5 and T4 in four of the past six Masters. Notable among his seven Tour wins is the 2012 Players, the 2013 WGC-Match Play, a FedEx Cup event (The Barclays in 2010) and the 2013 Memorial. Toss in a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and $38 million in career PGA Tour earnings -- second only to Steve Stricker among those without a major -- and he's clearly due.

At age 50, the ever-popular Strick now splits his time between the PGA and the Champions tours, yet there he was with a T16 at the 2017 Masters. He owns 12 PGA Tour wins, including two FedEx Cup playoff events, and has made $42 million on Tour -- the most ever made without winning a major. He sports 13 top 10s in majors, though he seldom came close to winning.

Ranked third in PGA Tour earnings of all players without a major with more than $35 million, the Englishman owns five PGA Tour wins, including a WGC-Match Play title in 2011. He also has six other European victories, eight top 10s in majors, two good wins on the Japanese tour and is a former World No. 1.

Eight Tour wins, eight top 10s in majors in the past 10 years (though only two top 5s) and $31.8 million in PGA Tour earnings, good for sixth place all-time among those who have yet to win a major, place Sneds easily on this list. His PGA Tour wins include a Tour Championship in 2012 and two wins each at a pair of major venues, Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines.

Korea's greatest male golf star can claim eight PGA Tour victories -- including the 2011 Players -- and a dozen or so minor wins in Asia. He also has six top 10s in majors and $31.9 million in PGA Tour earnings, placing him fifth all-time for money earned without a major title.

The three-time Pac-10 champion at Arizona State has never managed to break through on the PGA Tour, with just one win, but he owns 13 European tour titles, has posted nine top 10s in majors and was ranked as high as third in the Official World Golf Ranking in 2009.

The fourth Englishmen on this list, Poults came close in 2008, finishing second at the Open Championship and again in 2013, with a T3. In total he has eight major top 10s, 12 European tour wins -- including two WGC events -- and boasts a stellar Ryder Cup record.
