Golf fans, rejoice! Not only is the long-awaited sequel to “Happy Gilmore” premiering on Netflix this week, “Stick” — a 10-episode series starring Owen Wilson that debuted on Apple TV+ in June — was just green-lit for a second season.
“Stick” stars Wilson as Pryce Cahill, a former Tour pro whose career derailed prematurely 20 years ago. When viewers meet Pryce, his life is in shambles: his marriage has collapsed, and he has recently gotten fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store. But a chance encounter with a 17-year-old (Santi Wheeler, played by Peter Dager) loaded with talent gives Pryce’s life new purpose and direction.
In the Season 1 finale, which debuted on July 23, things get tense when an unexpected visitor re-enters Santi’s life, threatening to derail his performance in a PGA Tour tournament. The second season will pick up where the first leaves off.

A number of famous faces made cameos in the first season of “Stick,” including Tour players Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, and Wyndham Clark, and broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman.
“I think we all had a great time making it,” “Stick” star and executive producer Owen Wilson said in a release. “It’s really nice to see the show connecting with people and to know that we get a chance to continue the story!”
Playing Cahill gave Wilson, 56, a chance to get bitten by the golf bug.
“[Golf is] something that I was kind of intimidated by because, when I was a kid, my dad was a good golfer and it seemed very serious,” Owen told GOLF in a recent interview. “It seemed like a very grown-up thing. It seemed like something I couldn’t do — like, I can’t really learn this. I obviously haven’t cracked it yet, but what’s been great is I’ve made progress. And I’m going to keep going because I know I’m on the verge of another breakthrough.”
Wilson, Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Trevino, and Lilli Kay are all expected to return for Season 2.
