Steph Curry and Callaway announce multi-year partnership

An NBA superstar and Callaway are joining forces. Callaway and three-time NBA champ Steph Curry announced a multi-year partnership on Monday. According to the release, Callaway and Curry have had an “informal relationship” for years. Now there are bigger plans ahead.

“Together, they have committed to partnering on various initiatives Curry will undertake with a strong focus on expanding the game by making it more accessible to underserved and underrepresented youth,” the release said.

“I am beyond excited for the opportunity to work with Callaway Golf,” Curry said in the release. “Their ability to think outside the box on how we can collectively grow the game of golf is second to none.”

Golf has long been a major part of Curry’s life. The Golden State Warriors star started playing golf at a young age and now owns a +0.1 handicap. He made the cut in a Korn Ferry Tour start two years ago, and he recently teed it up alongside Phil Mickelson in a pro-am. Two months ago Curry’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, along with Callaway and Under Armour, donated funds so Howard University could develop men’s and women’s Division I golf programs. Curry is supporting the two programs for the next six years.

“We’ve found an incredibly likeminded partner in Stephen,” said Chip Brewer, the president and CEO of Callaway Golf. “His love of golf is something we at Callaway immediately connected with. And over time we realized we shared much more than that: a vision to create opportunities for access to the sport for people that might not have it. With our support, Stephen is uniquely positioned to create meaningful experiences in golf.”

Curry graced the cover of the November 2019 edition of GOLF Magazine. You can read Alan Shipnuck’s profile of him here.
