Stacy Lewis, a 17-year LPGA veteran who won 13 times — including two major championships — and captained the U.S. Solheim Cup team in 2023 and 2024, announced her retirement from professional golf on Wednesday.
The news was released on Lewis’ social media accounts ahead of the LPGA’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, which Lewis will play for the 19th time this week. Lewis, a University of Arkansas alum and four-time All-American in college, won the NW Arkansas Championship in 2014.

“Never in a million years, would I have thought this journey playing golf would still be going in 2025, but the time has come to put the clubs away,” Lewis wrote. “I will finish out the 2025 season, but this will be my last on the LPGA. I’m not exactly sure what is next but I’m so grateful for all the Arkansas fans and people that have supported me along [the] way!”
Lewis’ first LPGA win was a major, the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship (now the Chevron Championship). She posted 11 more wins over the next three years, including a second major, the 2013 RICOH Women’s British Open. In 2013, she ascended to World No. 1 — becoming only the second American to hold the top spot in the rankings. Her last two wins came in 2017 and 2020.
In 2018, Lewis’ longtime sponsor, KPMG, made headlines when the company elected to pay Lewis the full value of her contract while she was on maternity leave — a groundbreaking decision that has since become more mainstream.
Now 40 years old, Lewis said she is looking forward to spending more time with her husband and daughter in retirement.
“I’m going to miss the LPGA Tour family and this part of my life, but my body has told me it’s time,” she wrote. “My husband became a part of the team too fitting in seamlessly providing great balance and stability to my life. I’m looking forward to our calendars being more in sync and having more time as a family.”
