The 15th, 16th and 17th holes at PGA National — aka, the Bear Trap — comprise one of the hardest three-hole stretches on the PGA Tour, and Shane Lowry can attest to that.
The Irishman, who finished 53rd at last week’s Honda Classic, hit his tee shot on the par-3 15th into the water short of the green on Sunday (over four rounds a total of 54 balls found the water there), and the Golf Channel telecast caught his frustration live. You can listen to Lowry’s rant below, which is NSFW.
Afterward, Lowry sent out an unapologetic tweet about the incident, indicating that he doesn’t seem to mind he’ll be receiving a fine from the policy makers in Ponte Vedra.
The diabolical 15th also got the best of eventual-winner Adam Scott on Saturday and Smylie Kaufman, who snapped an iron over his knee, on Sunday.
