Scott Hoch teams with Tom Pernice Jr., becomes oldest winner in PGA Tour Champions history

Scott Hoch and Tom Pernice Jr. shake hands after winning the PGA Tour Champions' Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf at Big Cedar Lodge on Sunday.

Tom Pernice Jr. made a hole-in-one and teammate Scott Hoch became the oldest winner in Tour history when they teamed up to win the PGA Tour Champions’ Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf on Sunday in Ridgedale, Mo.

Mike Fetchick held the previous record. He won the 1985 Hilton Head Seniors Invitational on his 63rd birthday.

“It’s a team event,” said Hoch, 63. “It’s great that I won, but I don’t think you can compare that to an individual win. I mean, the individual winner.”

Pernice and Hoch finished 23 under overall, five strokes ahead of the teams of Vijay Singh and Carlos Franco and Paul Broadhurst and Kirk Triplett. They capped their victory on Sunday by playing the par-3 course at Big Cedar Lodge twice and signing for eight under. The format was alternate shot for the first nine and best-ball for the second.
