Sam Bennett gets a warm welcome home
Aggie men's golf, Morgan Weaver
Hello, friends, and happy week after the Masters. I write to you from the comfort of my couch, where I will be residing for the next few days while I get some energy back after the best and busiest work week ever. I usually feel no guilt in taking a few days to do absolutely nothing but rest after attending a tournament, but knowing that Masters champion Jon Rahm is teeing it up at the RBC Heritage this week definitely makes me reconsider things.
I knew he’d be here but it’s still sort of shocking to see Jon Rahm on the putting green, two days after winning the Masters, grinding on practice 3-footers

Then again, there’s a reason he’s the best in the world. It’s not my job to try and live like Rahm. It was an awesome week in golf, so let’s get right to it.
Golfers and celebrities congratulate Jon Rahm
One of my favorite things to see after a major is just how many people congratulate the winner. And this is only on social media! I can only imagine what Jon Rahm’s text message inbox looked like on Sunday night.
This game is so good. What a week at Augusta! Impressive performance from @JonRahmpga congrats man, you earned it.
— Brooks Koepka (@BKoepka) April 10, 2023
It’s going to be a fun major season, we’re just getting going. Stay tuned! Appreciate everyone’s support and @TheMasters for another memorable year. pic.twitter.com/aK1XlSMahv
Not only did Koepka congratulate Rahm after their Sunday round, but his wife took to Instagram stories to congratulate the Rahm family as well. A lot of golfers also took to Twitter to praise Rahm’s play at Augusta National.
Rahm put on a clinic. Had total and complete control of his ball the first two days. I’ve played a lot of golf with him, but that was some of his best I’ve seen. 4 putted one, played in the worst conditions, and absolutely dominated the field. Congrats to @JonRahmpga!

A monumental victory for your career and country. Congratulations, Jon Rahm! Seve is looking down on you smiling.

18th @TheMasters appearance in the books! Tough week in general, but fun weekend with @ShaneLowryGolf

Massive Congratulations @JonRahmpga on winning the Masters, especially on Seve’s birthday.. 🙏 pic.twitter.com/YGBiSySzwC
Started with a double on his opening hole, and had to play on the tougher side of the draw but nothing was going to stop the big man from winning the Masters on Seve’s birthday. Congratulations @JonRahmpga

Congratulations @JonRahmpga 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@JonRahmpga Impresionante demostración de golf de mi amigo y compatriota Jon Rahm. Muchas ganas de disfrutar de una cena de campeones muy especial el año que viene. Bienvenido a nuestro club tan especial!🇪🇸😂 pic.twitter.com/I73CBJeXQt

Winning a major kind of seems like a second birthday, except way better. Look at all those well wishes!
Sam Bennett’s warm welcome home
Sam Bennett became an amateur golf hero at Augusta National last weekend, so it’s only right he got a warm welcome back to Texas on Sunday night.
A warm welcome home for Sam Bennett

This is how I expect to be welcomed back to my parents’ house for the holidays, but my siblings can’t be bothered to look up from their phones when I walk into the living room. Perhaps in another life they will!
Just like Rahm, Bennett got right back to the grind this week. You know what they say. Yesterday’s birdies don’t win today’s tournaments, or something like that. Bennett (very understandably) isn’t teeing it up at the Aggie Invitational this week, but he’s on site to offer moral support.

Look at that! Bennett is the man of the hour, greeting players and signing autographs.
From Augusta to Aggieland 👏@AggieMensGolf senior Sam Bennett left the Masters and went straight back to cheer his teammates on at the Aggie Invitational on Monday. pic.twitter.com/QnWr8DbUcg

Crazy to think Bennett will be back in class this week. I remember how hard it was for my classmates to focus when I showed up to a lecture after winning my intramural basketball C-league championship, so I can only imagine what it’ll be like for whoever sits next to Bennett. I also can’t help but wonder if he’ll be sporting Masters swag for the rest of the year.
Cantlay’s fiery comment section
Next to Jon Rahm’s win, Patrick Cantlay’s pace of play was a top story coming out of Augusta National on Sunday evening. I thought the moment had passed, but then I took a look at the comment section under Cantlay’s Masters Instagram post.
I screen-shotted some to save you a click.
Cantlay’s comment section is ruthless right now pic.twitter.com/Um731BdDiF

Yikes! I can see why celebrities and athletes turn their comment sections off. I’ve always found it weird that people take the time to comment negative things on a stranger’s posts. Let he who has never played golf imperfectly cast the first negative comment!
Tony Finau x Nelly Korda
Nelly Korda took her talents to the Masters last week, and my only regret from my time there is that I didn’t run into her. This photo of her hanging out with Tony and Layna Finau warmed my heart.

Just some cool Nike athletes hanging out! I can’t wait to watch them tee it up together at the Grant Thornton Invitational in December.
