The 2023 Ryder Cup is officially here.

Two years after the Americans stomped the Europeans at Whistling Straits, the biennial team competition is back for its 44th edition. Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, Italy, will play host as Team USA looks for its first win on European soil since 1993.

Two-time major winner Zach Johnson will captain the American side while four-time Ryder Cupper (and four-time winner) Luke Donald will lead the Europeans. And with 12 of the best golfers from either side of the pond representing their respective teams, this Ryder Cup should come right down to the wire.

Check out below for a breakdown of each team’s roster.

Team USA

Sam Burns

Age: 27
World ranking: 20
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

Burns’ 2023 wasn’t quite as dynamic as the previous year, with fewer wins, top 10s and top 25s, however, he did win the PGA Tour’s lone match-play event in Austin. After pairing up with Scottie Scheffler at last fall’s Presidents Cup, it appears the duo will reunite in Rome.

Patrick Cantlay

Age: 31
World ranking: 5
Ryder Cup record: 3-0-1

One of the most consistent players in golf, Cantlay racked up 16 top 25s in 21 starts this season. He also had top-15 finishes in three of the four major championships while ranking third on Tour in SG: Total.

Wyndham Clark

Age: 29
World ranking: 10
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

Clark had a breakout year in 2023, winning twice including his maiden major victory at the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club. In addition to his pair of wins, the 29-year old also finished inside the top 25 in half his starts and missed just three cuts.

Rickie Fowler

Age: 34
World ranking: 25
Ryder Cup record: 3-7-5

Fowler experienced a career renaissance this season, registering eight top-10s and winning for the first time since 2019. After missing the Ryder Cup in 2021, Fowler is back on Team USA for the fifth time.

Brian Harman

Age: 36
World ranking: 9
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

Harman wasn’t on many pundit’s Ryder Cup radars heading into the summer. That is, until he won the Open Championship in convincing fashion. After his six-shot victory at Hoylake, he all but clinched his spot on Team USA.

Max Homa

Age: 32
World ranking: 7
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

After years as a middling pro, Homa has now asserted himself as one of the Tour’s top players. With five wins over the past three years, Homa has climbed into the top 10 in the OWGR and qualified for the Ryder Cup team for the first time.

Brooks Koepka

Age: 33
World ranking: 17
Ryder Cup record: 6-5-1

It was long unclear if any LIV golfers would be welcome on the Ryder Cup team, but after Koepka won the PGA Championship (and finished runner-up at the Masters) it was impossible to leave him off the team. He’s never lost a singles match (2-0-1) in his three previous Ryder Cup appearances.

Collin Morikawa

Age: 26
World ranking: 19
Ryder Cup record: 3-0-1

Morikawa didn’t win in 2023, but his strokes-gained numbers were still plenty tidy as he ranked second in SG: Approach and 10th in SG: Total. He’s yet to drop a Ryder Cup match, earning 3.5 points at Whistling Straits two years ago.

Xander Schauffele

Age: 29
World ranking: 6
Ryder Cup record: 3-1-0

Schauffele put together yet another solid campaign in 2023 with 11 top 10s and two runner-up finishes. He’s missed just four cuts over the past three seasons.

Scottie Scheffler

Age: 27
World ranking: 1
Ryder Cup record: 2-0-1

The world No. 1 was a ball-striking machine this season, ranking first in SG: Off the tee, SG: Approach, SG: Tee to green and SG: Total. However, thanks to an inconsistent flatstick, he found the winner’s circle just twice.

Jordan Spieth

Age: 30
World ranking: 12
Ryder Cup record: 8-7-3

Spieth didn’t find the winner’s circle in 2023, but he did have seven top 10s and 10 top 25s in 22 starts. He’ll be one of the most experienced Americans on the team with four previous Ryder Cups under his belt.

Justin Thomas

Age: 30
World ranking: 24
Ryder Cup record: 6-2-1

Thomas had the worst season of his career in 2023 with just four top 10s in 21 starts. However, with an excellent record in team competitions, Johnson opted to put faith in Thomas and spent a captain’s pick on him.

Team Europe

Ludvig Aberg

Age: 23
World ranking: 80
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

Just four months ago, Aberg was still in college competing for Texas Tech. Now, he’s set to make his Ryder Cup debut. The former No. 1-ranked amateur has seen a meteoric rise in his stock this summer as he’s made nine cuts in 12 PGA Tour starts and nabbed a victory on the DP World Tour just a few weeks back.

Mathew Fitzpatrick

Age: 29
World ranking: 8
Ryder Cup record: 0-5-0

The 2022 U.S. Open winner has been steady in 2023 with 11 top 25s and six top 10s to go with a win at the RBC Heritage the week after the Masters. Although he’s yet to earn a point in his Ryder Cup career, he’ll be one of the leaders on this new-look Team Europe.

Tommy Fleetwood

Age: 32
World ranking: 13
Ryder Cup record: 4-2-2

Fleetwood had a career resurgence this season, racking up nine top 10s to top his total from the previous three seasons combined. The Englishman will look to capture the same spark that he harnessed in 2018 as he scored four points for the Euros.

Tyrrell Hatton

Age: 31
World ranking: 11
Ryder Cup record: 2-4-1

Although Hatton didn’t find the winner’s circle this season, he was one of the most consistent players on Tour. He missed just one cut in 21 starts and had seven top 10s, including a runner-up finish at the Players Championship in March.

Nicolai Højgaard

Age: 22
World ranking: 82
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

Højgaard is coming off a season on the DP World Tour in which he netted five top 5s. He’s the youngest player competing in this year’s Ryder Cup.

Viktor Hovland

Age: 26
World ranking: 4
Ryder Cup record: 0-3-2

Hovland took his game to a whole new level in 2023, winning three times and finishing in the top 20 in all four majors (including a runner-up at the PGA Championship). He did not win a match in his first Ryder Cup appearance, but that will almost surely change in Rome.

Shane Lowry

Age: 36
World ranking: 34
Ryder Cup record: 1-2-0

Lowry didn’t have a spectacular season on the PGA Tour with just one top 10 in 18 starts, but with only three missed cuts, he proved to have a high floor. He’s coming off a pair of top-20 finishes on the DP World Tour heading to Rome, so his game should be in good form.

Robert MacIntyre

Age: 27
World ranking: 55
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

MacIntyre automatically qualified for the team on the European points list, locking up his spot with a T55 finish at the European Masters. He had six top-5 finishes on the DP World Tour this season.

Rory McIlroy

Age: 34
World ranking: 2
Ryder Cup record: 12-12-4

As usual, McIlroy was excellent in 2023 with two wins and 13 top 10s in 18 starts. He’s aiming to become a part of a fifth winning European Ryder Cup squad.

Jon Rahm

Age: 28
World ranking: 3
Ryder Cup record: 4-3-1

Rahm had a monster season, winning four times and adding two runner-ups. The highlight of his season came back in April when he won the Masters for his second major title.

Justin Rose

Age: 43
World ranking: 37
Ryder Cup record: 13-8-2

After missing out on the Ryder Cup in 2021, Rose is once again a part of Team Europe as he will make his sixth appearance in the biennial match. He is the oldest member of this year’s European team.

Sepp Straka

Age: 30
World ranking: 22
Ryder Cup record: N/A (rookie)

Straka had a breakout season in 2023, netting his first two majors top 10s and claiming his second Tour victory at the John Deere Classic. He’s the second player in Ryder Cup history to hail from Austria, following Bernd Wiesberger in 2021.
