WGC-Mexico Championship betting odds: Rory McIlroy leads the way

February 18, 2020

Even after sputtering to the finish Sunday at Riviera, Rory McIlroy is the betting favorite this week south of the border. Oddsmakers at golfodds.com have the world No. 1 listed at 6/1 odds this week at the WGC-Mexico Championship.

This marks the second week in a row McIlory enters as the favorite to win. He was also the man to beat last week at Riviera where he finished T5, though his Sunday 73 left something to be desired. The 30-year-old has not won at Club de Golf Chapultepec in two starts, but he does have a pair of top-10 finishes, including a runner-up performance last year.

Defending champion Dustin Johnson comes in just behind McIlroy at 8/1. The 20-time PGA Tour winner ran away with the title last year, besting McIlroy by five shots for his second WGC-Mexico Championship win. He also won the event in 2017 with a one-shot margin over Tommy Fleetwood.

Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas are listed at 10/1 odds with four top-10 performances in six starts between the duo. Thomas narrowly missed out on a win in 2018 with a playoff loss to Phil Mickelson, while Rahm’s best performance was a T3 finish in 2017, two shots back of Johnson.

Adam Scott, coming off his win at Riviera, is listed at 20/1 odds and is joined by Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, Webb Simpson and Hideki Matsuyama to round out the top 5.
