It might not be the live sports that we’re used to, but in these times, we’ll take what we can get. Now, the Golf Channel is getting in on the rewatch action with an encore performance of the final round of Rory McIlroy’s 2019 Players Championship win.
Starting at 1 p.m. this afternoon,
Golf Channel, in collaboration with the London-based network Sky Sports, will
air early round coverage of the event. The early round coverage will utilize
Sky Sports broadcast feed and will be aired simultaneously on both sides of the
pond.
At 4:30 p.m. the coverage will pivot to a segment titled “Watchalong with Rory,” which will feature a live feed of McIlroy rewatching the closing stretch of his first Players Championship victory. He will be joined on screen by Sky Sports’ Nick Dougherty and Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee as they break down all the pivotal moments that led to the win.
Fans are also encouraged to engage with the trio on social media with the hashtag #WatchalongWithRory. Dougherty and Chamblee will answer questions in real time prior to McIlroy joining the broadcast during the early round coverage.
The Players Championship was McIlroy’s first of his three wins in 2019, including victories at the RBC Canadian Open and the Tour Championship. He went on to the voted Player of the Year by his peers, the third such time he’s won the Jack Nicklaus award in his career.
