The Players Championship gets underway this week on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, where the Florida swing of the PGA Tour continues. The betting favorites heading into this week’s event? Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy.
Johnson and McIlroy both enter with 12/1 odds to win this week. The 34-year-old Johnson makes his first appearance on Tour since his win at the WGC-Mexico Championship last month. The 29-year-old McIlroy is coming off a sixth place finish this past week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Coming in with 16/1 odds to win this week is Justin Thomas, who has not won on Tour since his victory at the Bridgestone Invitational last August. He finished tied for 30th at the Honda Classic earlier this month, which was his most recent appearance on Tour.
Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Francesco Molinari, and Justin Rose all enter the Players Championship with 20/1 odds to win. Fowler, who was victorious at the 2015 edition of the event, finished tied for 40th this past week at Bay Hill. His last win on Tour came in February at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Koepka, who missed the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, has not won on Tour since the CJ Cup this past October. Meanwhile, Molinari captured his fourth professional victory in the last year this past weekend at Bay Hill. Rose, who has not won on Tour since the Farmers Insurance Open this past January, finished tied for 63rd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Last but not least, Tiger Woods enters the Players Championship with 25/1 odds to win alongside Bryson DeChambeau, Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm, and Xander Schauffele. Tiger, who has won twice at TPC Sawgrass during his career, finished tied for 10th in Mexico City during his last appearance on Tour. After having to drop out of Bay Hill due to a neck strain, Woods will be back in action this week and looking for his first win since the Tour Championship last September.
