These adorable photos show Tiger Woods’ son definitely takes after his father
Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal are both among the greats to play their respective sports, and also pretty good friends.
Nadal has followed Woods on site at tournaments and was quick to check his phone after a match last August when Woods was contending at the PGA Championship at Bellerive. Woods has also watched Nadal plenty of times, including at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., on Monday night. Woods, girlfriend Erica Herman and Woods’ kids, Sam and Charlie, were on hand to watch Nadal beat Marin Cilic (6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2) to advance to the quarterfinals.
Photos of an animated and fist-pumping Woods circulated on social media, but none were better than Woods and his son, 10-year-old Charlie, going through the gauntlet of emotions as they watched Nadal from their suite. Tiger and Charlie’s mannerisms were strikingly similar, and we have photo evidence. (Credit to our Dylan Dethier for pointing this out.) Let’s break it down!
The contemplative gaze.
Nadal and Cilic were tied at one set apiece early. Things were dicey! Charlie and dad showed mild concern.
The mischievous stare.
Things were looking up for Nadal at this point. Both Tiger and Charlie went with the right hand-to-chin posture. You can see their spirits have been lifted (and that they also might be up to something).

The fist-pump.
It’s no surprise Charlie’s fist-pump is above average for his age group. Look at that form: Sharp elbow bend, closed fist and gritted teeth to really sell it. Dad should be proud.
The relaxed backward hat.
Dad has rocked this look for years. Looks like Charlie has it down, too. Might as well let the good times roll as Nadal took control of the match.
