PGA Tour names DraftKings its ‘Official Daily Fantasy Game’
Calling all fantasy golf fans, the PGA Tour is now officially a DraftKings league.
That much is clear via an announcement Tuesday that the Tour named DraftKings its official daily fantasy game, effective immediately. The partnership does not change much about the classic way in which daily fantasy golf operates. However, it will offer a more engaging experience, with “real-time video highlights” incorporated into the app. According to a release from the Tour, fantasy users will be able to watch highlights of players on their selected lineups. Better yet, the results will be clear in the DraftKings platform starting this week.
“The partnership with DraftKings provides the Tour with a unique opportunity to innovate in a new industry and to further engage our fans,” said Tour Senior Vice President of Media, Luis Goicouria.
DraftKings’ CBO Ezra Kucharz went on to say that golf is the fourth-largest sport in terms of engagement on its platform. That’s fourth out of 15 offered sports, which has golf punching up from its typical weight class. The three sports ahead of it are the NFL, NBA and MLB.
According to the release, DraftKings golf contests received 20 million entries in 2018, and has paid out more than $450 million since its inception. To make a lineup yourself, check out DraftKings here.
