Former LIV Golf pro Patrick Reed was ready to tee it up for his 4Aces team in 2026… until he wasn’t. That left the 4Aces in a bind to start the season.
But that problem has been solved in the perfect way. Ahead of this week’s LIV event in Australia, the 4Aces announced they had signed a star player who provided the best LIV storyline from the offseason: Anthony Kim.
And Kim quickly proved that it was a wise decision.
Anthony Kim replaces Patrick Reed on 4Aces LIV team
On January 28, Reed announced his shocking decision to leave LIV Golf and pursue a path back to the PGA Tour.
“I am moving forward in my career, and I look forward to competing on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. I can’t wait to get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth,” Reed said in a statement at the time.
Reed, who had just won the Dubai Desert Classic and would go on to win last week’s Qatar Masters, was a big loss for the 4Aces team captained by Dustin Johnson.

Because Reed’s announcement came one week before the LIV season opener in Saudi Arabia, it left the 4Aces squad with only three aces: Johnson, Thomas Detry and Thomas Pieters.
Miguel Tabuena filled in at LIV Golf Riyadh, where the 4Aces finished third in the team competition. But they needed a permanent replacement, one with the potential to replace Reed’s skill.
And this week they got exactly who they were looking for. On Wednesday ahead of the first round at LIV Golf Adelaide, the 4Aces announced they had signed Kim as their fourth player, writing in a social media post, “We’ve always had an Ace up our sleeve.”

The signing was the culmination of a wild few months for Kim, a former PGA Tour star.
Anthony Kim challenges for LIV lead in team debut
Kim returned from a decade away from pro golf to sign with LIV in 2024. He struggled greatly on the course in that season (56th in the individual standings) and 2025 (55th) playing as a wild card, eventually losing his spot in the league.
But Kim was far from done. He entered the LIV Promotions in event in early January and finished in third to earn a promotion back to LIV Golf.
Playing as a wild card again at the 2026 LIV Golf Riyadh opener, Kim finished T22, going six under in his final round.
On Wednesday, Kim played his first round as a 4Aces team member, and based on his play in Round 1, those teammates should be pleased with their decision.
Kim fired a five-under 67 in the first round at LIV Golf Adelaide, putting him T3 with Johnson, his team captain. That gave the 4Aces team a two-shot lead heading into Round 2.
