The opening day of the 2020 Northern Trust produced a star-studded leaderboard, setting up what should be a fun day on Friday at TPC Boston. Here’s what you need to know to watch the second round.
Previewing Northern Trust Round 2
Thursday’s entertaining round saw many of the game’s best rise near the top of the field. Names like Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods can all be found on the top portion of the leaderboard through 18 holes in this, the first of three FedEx Cup Playoff events.

Speaking of Woods: the 15-time major champ made it through the back nine at TPC Boston unscathed, then lit up the front for an opening three-under 68. Tiger has one of the later tee times on Friday. He’ll begin the second round at 1:17 p.m. ET.
Harris English had the best round of Thursday’s early wave, firing an impressive seven-under 64 to take the early lead. He was later matched by Kevin Streelman, Cameron Davis and Russell Henley. But they’ll have plenty of company battling them near the top of the leaderboard on Friday. Louis Oosthuizen and Bubba Watson are among a group of seven players tied at six under after Round 1. Ian Poulter is at five under, while Johnson (four under), Fowler (four under) and Thomas (three under) are a few shots further back.
