WATCH: Lexi Thompson brings puppy to post-round Q&A

November 17, 2018

Lexi Thompson has had a tough time over the past two years. Beginning last April, the top-ranked American suffered a brutal rules debacle at the ANA Invitational, which cost her a major championship. Since then, she’s endured her mother’s cancer diagnosis, grandmother’s death, and  skipped the Women’s British Open to “recharge [her] mental batteries.”
Earlier this week, Thompson again made news for splitting with her caddie ahead of this week’s CME Group Tour Championship — the last LPGA tournament of the season.
On Friday, Thompson’s name was back in the headlines, but this time for a more positive reason: She’s currently leading the tournament.
Over 14 months after her last victory at the Indy Women in Tech Championship, Thompson is enjoying a three-shot advantage over her closest competitors after 36 holes. And after the round, she brought a new furry friend to her post-round chat.

“I bought him about four months ago,” Thompson says of Leo, her new Havapoo. “He’s about six months old. He’s amazing. No matter what I shoot, this guy is giving me kisses no matter what.”
