WATCH: Jack Nicklaus stuns with epic chip-in to win thousands of dollars for charity
Jack Nicklaus has plenty of magic left in him, no matter what he says. He may be 79 years old and well beyond his PGA Tour career, but the 18-time major champion is still winning tournaments all over the place with ridiculous clutch shots, just as he did in his prime.
Just days after holing an epic putt from off the green to win a pro-scratch tournament, the 79-year-old golf legend was at it again at the PGA Tour Champions Ally Challenge over the weekend. Nicklaus didn’t play in the pro portion of the tournament (he played in his last Senior event in 2005), but he did compete in the inaugural Celebrity Shootout for charity at the host venue, Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc Township, Mich.

Nicklaus teamed up with Kid Rock for the skins-style match on Saturday, and after nine holes the pair was tied with their celebrity opponents, NHL star Henrik Zetterberg and singer Dierks Bentley. To determine the winner, the foursome had a chip-off with $15,000 of the $25,000 purse on the line.
After the first three players failed to get close with their chips, Nicklaus stepped up to take his shot. With a large crowd watching, and with Kid Rock and his opponents standing at his side, Nicklaus hit his chip and watched it roll 30 feet across the green and directly into the cup.
Nicklaus shared a video of the chip on Instagram Sunday, along with a message that began, “Told Barbara that I don’t think I have any magic left in me!”

The hole-out sent the gathered fans into a frenzy — none more so than his famous playing partner — who all chanted his name in celebration. The win earned Team Nicklaus a total of $18,000 for the local charity assigned to their team, the United Way of Genesee County.
