Nelly Korda closed with a four-under 68 to win the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship on Sunday, claiming her first career LPGA victory and making her and sister Jessica Korda just the third pair of sisters to both win on Tour.
Korda and Wei-Ling Hsu shared the 54-hole lead, but Hsu faded on Sunday as Korda birdied the 4th and eagled the 6th to turn in three-under 33. She birdied the 10th hole and added pars on the rest to clip Minjee Lee, who shot 66, by two. Korda, 20, finished 13 under overall and won $330,000.
“Truthfully, I cannot put it into words,” Korda said. “It still hasn’t hit. It’s definitely one of the best days of my entire life. I can finally check that off of my list, winning an LPGA event, something that I dreamed of ever since I started playing.”
The first pair of sisters to win on the LPGA were Annika and Charlotta Sorenstam. Earlier this year Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn joined the list, when Moriya won the HUGEL-JTBC LA Open in April.
Nelly Korda’s older sister, Jessica, 25, has five LPGA wins.
