If you play for money with your buddies, perhaps you’ve sweated over a putt worth $20, $50 or even $100 or more. When dollars are on the line, the intensity ramps up exponentially.
So imagine what it must be like for PGA Tour players, when a single putt may be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars — as well as precious FedEx Cup and world ranking points, too.
Which players ended up leaving some serious dough on the table when their flatsticks failed them at the worst possible time in 2025? The PGA Tour, in collaboration with Golfbet, released some staggering figures on social media. Check out the details below.
Shane Lowry
A missed putt for solo second on the final hole at the Truist Championship cost Lowry $400,000.
Akshay Bhatia
Bhatia’s missed putt for solo third at the Players Championship cost him $400,000.
Ben Griffin
Griffin won three times in 2025, but came oh-so-close to potentially having four titles. With a short putt left to force a playoff at the Procore Championship, Griffin missed, and lost $426,000 in the process.
Russell Henley
At the Tour Championship, Henley faced a mid-range putt that, if made, would have earned him solo second. Instead, the miss cost him a whopping $647,000.
Patrick Cantlay
Also at the Tour Championship: Patrick Cantlay missed out on $647,500 when he missed a 10-footer for solo second.
Andrew Novak
This one stings. Andrew Novak memorably claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the Zurich Classic alongside Ben Griffin, but the week before that win, Novak had a chance to earn a solo victory at the RBC Heritage. Unfortunately, his putt to win didn’t touch the hole, and he lost the ensuing playoff to Justin Thomas. The financial magnitude of that missed putt? $1.44 million.
Tommy Fleetwood
Fleetwood won his first-ever PGA Tour event at the Tour Championship, but he came close to a win several times in the lead-up to that tournament, including a painful near-miss at the Travelers Championship, where he faced a short putt to get into a playoff — and missed. The consequence? $1.84 million lost. But with a total of $18,496,238 in earnings in 2025, we’re guessing Tommy isn’t losing any sleep.
