WATCH: Bubba Watson jaws with fan after tee shot at WGC-Dell Match Play

Fans heckling golfers is a natural part of any tournament. Lots of times, golfers just brush off the peanut gallery and ignore the criticism. But sometimes, golfers feel the need to dish it back to the hecklers.

And that’s exactly what happened to Bubba Watson on Thursday during the second day of action at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Playing against Billy Horschel during his second match of the event, Watson had just hit his tee shot on the par-4 3rd hole at Austin Country Club when a fan along the ropes started heckling him. The two-time Masters champion and his caddie clearly heard it, as they turned their heads to see where the mocking was coming from.

After Watson’s caddie took a more diplomatic approach by telling the fan to be quiet next time, Watson went for the jugular.

“It’s funny how tough you were, then you looked away,” Bubba Watson said. “Everybody’s big behind the ropes and behind the computer.” Then, either Watson or his caddie told the fan to take a hike.

“Look at him,” Watson continued. “He’s still trying to look cool.” Watch how it all unfolded here.

Watson and his caddie left to head down the fairway, where Watson’s ball was waiting for him after his drive. Watson, who is looking to defend his 2018 title, lost his opening duel at the Match Play to Kevin Na on Wednesday. The round concluded with him picking up his ball from the bunker and conceding the match to Na.
