With the world of golf as divided as it is between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, it’s nice to find common ground where we can — and one thing every golfer can agree on is the joy of Masters Week.
From Tour pros to the casual supporters who are only in it for an ice-cold Azalea and pimento cheese sandwich, the traditions that surround Augusta National and the biggest week in golf hold a place in every golfer’s heart.
For some, it’s the history behind Augusta National Golf Course, for others it’s an opportunity to bond with loved ones over a shared love of the game, and for a lucky few, it’s a chance to play on the most illustrious course in the country.
While it’s a rare treat to hear about a player’s favorite Masters moment, Bryson DeChambeau offered up a peek behind the curtain at LIV Miami this week.
“I honestly love the atmosphere. It’s one of the most peaceful places,” DeChambeau says, then got even more specific.
“My favorite moment is when the sun is kind of setting and everyone has gotten off the golf course and you’re just hitting golf balls by yourself,” DeChambeau says, “And the sun is going down…it’s like heaven.
“That’s what I look forward to a lot going into next week. Other than playing well and giving myself a chance.”
And with DeChambeau tied for second alongside Dustin Johnson after a three-under-par first round at LIV Miami this week, he’s certainly in good enough form to make a run — both this week and next.
