Brooks Koepka holds slim lead with 36 holes between him and $15 million

The Tour Championship is half complete down at East Lake, and it’s a three-way heavyweight battle up top. Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy have all pushed themselves to the top of the leaderboard after 36 holes.

In the chase for $15 million, it’s Mr. Major Koepka who has the outright lead at 13 under. He follows up his Thursday 67 with another 67 on Friday, highlighted by a macho finishing birdie on the long par-5 18th. Koepka and Thomas have their own little side-action that has finally become public, but they’ll both earn plenty more than that Sunday afternoon.

Koepka’s march toward $15 million will start up again Saturday afternoon, all of 36 hours from the big money distribution. Elsewhere at East Lake, here are some other things you missed.

Yes, Adam Scott CAN Putt

Normally one to struggle on the greens, Scotty was magical with his putter Friday afternoon, making 185 feet of putts with the flat-stick. After making 78 feet worth of putts on Thursday, Scott is well on his way to his season-best performance in that stat. Unfortunately for him, he still made five bogeys Friday and was unable to get in the house at anything better than even-par 70.

Reavie is an Ace Machine

Chez Reavie made an ace on the long, uphill par-3 9th at East Lake, wielding a 3-hybrid as his fancy weapon of choice. We all know what comes next — Hey, Chez. How many aces is that for you? Twenty-one was his answer. Twenty-one career aces! Five on the PGA Tour! Reavie has a knack for getting lucky in the right moments.
