Arnold Palmer’s Ashes Were Spread Over Latrobe Country Club

September 29, 2016

Arnold Palmer’s ashes were spread across Latrobe Country Club in Pennsylvania, in the same area where his wife, Winnie, had her ashes spread 17 years ago.

The Palmer family had a private ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the life of golf’s first true superstar. Palmer passed away on Sunday night at age 87 due to heart complications. A public memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday in Latrobe.

Palmer won 95 times in his career, including 62 PGA Tour wins and seven major championships. A four-time Masters winner, Palmer revolutionized golf in the 1960s and made the game popular among the working class of the United States. His loyal fanbase, dubbed Arnie’s Army, was as passionate as they come and helped propel Palmer to legendary status.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Gerry Dulac posted photos on Twitter of the plane that flew above the property and the rainbow that appeared shortly after.
