One week ago, Andrew Novak lost the RBC Heritage in a playoff to Justin Thomas. But now he’s in New Orleans and has another shot to claim that first PGA Tour win.
Novak and Ben Griffin hold the 54-hole lead at the Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, La., and a win would be the first on Tour for both pros. This is Novak’s 100th career start on the PGA Tour and Griffin’s 90th.
After shooting 61 in four-balls Saturday, Novak and Griffin (27 under) hold a three-shot lead over Jake Knapp/Frankie Capan III and Ryo Hisatsune/Takumi Kanaya.
“Three shots can be gone pretty quick,” Novak said. “It’s nice to have it, but we’re going to have to still play well.”
Two other teams are at 23 under, and five back at 22 under is the duo of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, who won the Zurich in a playoff last year.

“We want to compete against the best players and want to ultimately test ourselves and try to get it done,” Griffin said. “It’ll mean a lot [to win]. Obviously a ton at stake when you win on the PGA Tour. We’re going to be focused on each individual shot, just try and execute.”
