Featured tee time for Round 3
What a difference a week makes. Former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama claimed the year’s first Signature Event title in record-setting fashion at Kapalua last week, with a four-round score of 35 under par. This week, though? He’s only four under par at the halfway point of the Sony Open, currently T42, and just two shots ahead of the cut line. Golf is a fickle game indeed.

The top spot on the Sony leaderboard after 36 holes belongs to co-leaders Patrick Fishburn and Denny McCarthy, who are 10 under par and one shot ahead of three players at nine under and another five players at eight under. Both Fishburn and McCarthy are seeking their maiden PGA Tour victories this week.
They’ll tee off in Saturday’s final grouping at Waialae on Saturday alongside Kensei Hirata (-9) at 3 p.m. ET.
