The biggest tournament of the year so far is ready to begin at iconic TPC Sawgrass, where the PGA Tour’s finest will fight for history. Also on the line? A $4.5 million check to the winner.

Scottie Scheffler starts the tournament not just as the World No. 1 and betting favorite, but also as the man who won the Players the last two years.

Trying to break up his shot at an historic Sawgrass three-peat is World No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who already has a Signature Event win this season, and World No. 3 Xander Schauffele, who captured two major titles last year. And all three of them will be playing in the same grouping on Thursday.
