UPDATE: It came down to the final few groups on the course on Friday at Royal Portrush to decide the 36-hole cut, which landed at one over par.
The Open Championship cut is top 70 and ties, and just hours ago, at 12:30 p.m. ET, Data Golf’s model said there was a 92 percent chance the cut would land at two over par, but things changed quickly since then.
That means players like Sergio Garcia, Maverick McNealy, Bryson DeChambeau, Hideki Matsuyama, Corey Conners and 53-year-old Justin Leonard are all in on the number at one over. Meanwhile, a handful of players at two over, including Joaquin Niemann, Jason Day and Ben Griffin, have all missed the cut.

As Scottie Scheffler and Matt Fitzpatrick spend their Friday afternoons trying to play into one of the final pairings for Saturday at Royal Portrush, a handful of other big-name players are simply battling to get a weekend tee time.
The top 70 players plus ties make the 36-hole Open Championship cut. Here’s what the projected cut might land on and where some of the field stands as we get into Friday evening local time (and into the afternoon ET).
2025 Open Championship projected cut
At 12:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Data Golf predicts there’s a 92 percent chance the 2025 Open Championship cut will be two over par, meaning anyone three over or more will be sent packing.
Bryson DeChambeau shot 78 on Thursday but rallied for a six-under 65 on Friday to get in at one over through 36 holes, meaning that Friday charge should be enough to keep him here for the weekend.
Jason Day and Joaquin Niemann both got in at two over to likely secure their spots, whiles others right around the cut line are still on the course. Sam Burns is one over (after nine), Dustin Johnson is two over (after 15), Patrick Cantlay is three over (after 13), Wyndham Clark is three over (after six) and Collin Morikawa is four over (after seven).
Some players who are outside the projected cut line after 36 holes are Zach Johnson (three over), Tom Kim (three over) and Adam Scott (nine over).
