With four wins in eight tournaments so far this year, Joaquin Niemann holds a commanding lead at the top of the LIV Golf individual rankings. No other player has won more than once this year. In addition to Niemann’s quest for a fifth LIV Golf title this season, there are several other storylines percolating.
Jon Rahm is another LIV golfer with an impressive streak going. The 30-year-old Spaniard has finished T9 or better in every single event this season. Will this be the week he finally breaks through?
Bryson DeChambeau is also in the midst of a nice streak. The 31-year-old has finished fifth or better in his last four LIV Golf tournaments. Is this the week — a rare opportunity to play at home — the week he claims his fourth career LIV Golf title, and second win of the season?
On the heels of this week’s event in Dallas, a number of LIV golfers will be making a long commute across the Atlantic to attempt to qualify for the year’s final major, the Open Championship at Portrush. LIV has just one more event on the schedule ahead of the Open, LIV Golf Andalucia in Valderrama, Spain. One player who won’t make the trip? Sergio Garcia. The 45-year-old is banking on claiming a last-chance exemption from the R&A, granted to the top five players in LIV Golf’s individual standings who are not otherwise exempt at the conclusion of LIV Golf Dallas. Garcia is currently fourth.
