The third edition of the Grant Thornton Invitational is off and running, with Charley Hull and Michael Brennan sharing the first-round lead with Lexi Thompson and Wyndham Clark at 17 under par.
The first day’s format was a scramble, and the leading teams put on quite a show, carding 13 birdies and two eagles each.
Saturday’s format will be considerably tougher, as the teams will play foursomes, or alternate shot. What kind of strategy will be in play?
“I don’t know,” Brennan said after the round. “We just finished scoring and we saw Jeff and Adam, our caddies, were going through the yardages and they were getting dialed up. So probably listen to what they say.”
